Russia Sends Additional Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake-Affected Venezuela

Russia has delivered another shipment of humanitarian assistance, including medicines, food and essential supplies, for people affected by the devastating earthquake in Venezuela.

A Russian Antonov An-124 “Ruslan” heavy transport aircraft landed at Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía on July 13, according to the Russian Embassy in Venezuela.

The shipment included medical equipment, diagnostic test kits, insulin, medicines and other healthcare supplies. Food, tents for temporary shelter and essential items for daily use were also delivered.

The humanitarian cargo was received at the airport by Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yván Gil, Deputy Foreign Minister Andrea Corao and Russian Ambassador to Venezuela Sergey Melik-Bagdasarov.

Ambassador Melik-Bagdasarov said the latest delivery of medicines, food and essential supplies symbolised Russia’s sincere solidarity, friendship and unwavering commitment to stand by Venezuela during its most difficult moments.

He expressed confidence that Venezuela would recover from the consequences of the disaster through joint efforts and reaffirmed that Russia would continue providing necessary assistance to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela as a partner and friend.

Russia had previously delivered food, blankets and other relief materials for earthquake-affected communities. The latest shipment represents a continuation of that humanitarian assistance campaign, according to the Russian side.

The Russian Embassy said the aid reflected the longstanding friendship between the two countries and their tradition of supporting one another during difficult circumstances.
