US to Provide $500,000 in Aid for Rasuwa Flood Victims

The United States has announced that it will provide $500,000 in assistance to communities affected by the devastating flood in Rasuwa.

The US Department of State expressed condolences to the families and relatives of those who lost their lives in the disaster and conveyed solidarity with all communities affected by the flood. The department also said it is preparing to deploy a disaster response adviser to the affected area to support emergency relief operations.

The assistance will be provided through the United States’ global partnership with Catholic Relief Services. According to the State Department, the funding will be used to provide emergency shelter, essential relief supplies, and water, sanitation and hygiene assistance to flood-affected communities.

The US Embassy in Kathmandu said it is coordinating with local authorities to determine the status of American citizens in affected areas and to provide assistance where necessary.

The embassy has advised US citizens in flood-affected areas to monitor local news and official information, follow instructions from local authorities, and enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program to receive security and emergency updates.

The US assistance announcement comes as search, rescue, victim identification and relief operations continue in Rasuwa and other areas affected by the flood. A significant number of Nepali and foreign nationals remain out of contact following the disaster.
