ICRC Representatives Inspect Wildberries Facilities in Russia’s Leningrad Region After Drone Attacks

Rodion Miroshnik, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross visited Wildberries facilities in Russia’s Leningrad Region that had been affected by drone attacks.

According to Miroshnik, ICRC delegates, together with experts from the Russian Red Cross, inspected the Wildberries warehouse in Shushary and the company’s Krasny Bor complex to assess the humanitarian consequences of the attacks.

The Russian side said long-range drones carrying high-explosive fragmentation and incendiary warheads were used in both incidents. Miroshnik stated that the attacks lasted between one and a half and two hours, with multiple drones repeatedly striking the facilities.

He also said that ICRC representatives observed during their visit that there were no military facilities at the warehouses or in their immediate vicinity. The delegation reportedly spoke with company management and employees who had been working at the sites when the attacks occurred.

According to Miroshnik, 28 Wildberries facilities have been targeted by drone attacks since mid-July. He said the incidents have killed 10 people and injured 128 others.

The figures and descriptions of the attacks are based on statements by the Russian Foreign Ministry representative. Until detailed independent findings are published by the ICRC or other parties, claims regarding responsibility for the attacks, the weapons used and the civilian or military status of the sites should be treated as the Russian side’s official account.
