Arsenal Beat Chelsea 2–1 in London Derby After Comeback Victory

Defending champions Arsenal defeated Chelsea 2–1 in a London derby at the Emirates Stadium, producing an impressive comeback after falling behind early in the match.

Chelsea stunned the home crowd in the second minute. Arsenal failed to clear a Reece James free kick, allowing Morgan Rogers, signed this season for £117 million, to score with a volley and give the visitors a 1–0 lead.

The goal marked the first time Arsenal had conceded and fallen behind this season. Chelsea goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez made several important saves, including an effort from Bukayo Saka, while Jorrel Hato and Wesley Fofana also produced key blocks.

Arsenal equalized in the 25th minute through former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz, who beat Martinez with a well-placed finish at the near post.

Chelsea then came close to regaining the lead. Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya denied a powerful long-range effort from captain Reece James, while Pedro Neto saw a fine individual attempt strike the post.

Arsenal completed the turnaround in the 50th minute. Havertz cleverly allowed the ball to run through to Martin Odegaard, who beat Martinez to put the hosts 2–1 ahead. It was Odegaard’s second goal in his last three Premier League appearances.

Chelsea pushed for an equalizer late in the match and substitute Estevao came close to scoring, but Raya produced an excellent fingertip save to preserve Arsenal’s lead.

The victory was Arsenal’s third consecutive win. For Chelsea, who spent around £350 million during the summer transfer window, the defeat marked their fifth successive Premier League loss at the Emirates Stadium.
