Russia to Assess Need for Full Restoration of Damaged Warehouse Infrastructure by Year-End

Russian authorities and major online marketplaces will assess by the end of 2026 whether all warehouse infrastructure affected by recent damage needs to be fully restored, according to Roman Chekushov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Russia.

Chekushov made the remarks in an interview with Russian news agency TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum 2026.

According to him, government authorities and marketplace operators will jointly evaluate the condition of affected storage facilities before determining the scale of reconstruction or restoration required.

Warehouse and logistics infrastructure has become increasingly important to Russia’s economy amid the rapid expansion of e-commerce. Large distribution centers play a central role in storing, processing and delivering goods across the country.

The assessment is therefore expected to help determine whether damaged facilities should be fully rebuilt or whether other logistics arrangements can meet existing demand. The eventual decision could have implications for supply chains, distribution capacity and the continued development of Russia’s online retail sector.
