Libya will participate in the Russia–Africa Summit scheduled for late October, but the level of its delegation will be announced officially at a later date, Libya’s Ambassador to Iran, Ali Juma Hassan Fadil, has said.

Asked in an interview with TASS about Libya’s participation and the level of representation, Fadil said the decision rests with the authorised Libyan authorities as a matter of national sovereignty.

“It would be inappropriate to pre-empt an official announcement or name a specific person before the relevant decision is made,” he said.

Fadil added that the substance of Libya’s participation was more important than the name of its representative.
