A 42-year-old Ukrainian man has been detained in connection with the death of Antoine de Massy, a 29-year-old member of Monaco’s princely family. Citing Monaco’s prosecutor’s office, French newspaper Le Figaro reported that the man was charged with failure to assist a person in danger and involuntary manslaughter.

The man, who has lived in Monaco for 30 years, has denied the allegations. He declined to answer questions from the judge, Le Figaro reported, citing the prosecutor’s office. Authorities have not disclosed the specific conduct alleged against him.

De Massy was found dead on October 25 in a public square near the Larvotto district. Preliminary autopsy findings, cited by Agence France-Presse, indicated that he may have fallen approximately 13 metres.

A source cited by Le Figaro said De Massy was seen leaving a nightclub on Sunday night. The investigation is ongoing.
