A localized ceasefire in Oleshky (Alyoshki), in Ukraine’s Kherson region, is being observed by both sides to facilitate a humanitarian mission, Russian Human Rights Commissioner Yana Lantratova said.

On October 23, the White House said Russia and Ukraine had agreed, with the assistance of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump, to halt hostilities in Oleshky to allow humanitarian aid deliveries and preparations for civilian evacuations through a safe corridor.
Ukraine’s Parliamentary Commissioner for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, had said the ceasefire would begin at 3 a.m. Kyiv time on October 27. The Associated Press reported that both sides observed it during its first day and night.
Russia’s Defense Ministry said its forces halted fire on the Kherson front at 4 a.m. Moscow time on October 27 and introduced a “regime of silence” to prepare for the humanitarian operation. The ceasefire is a localized arrangement limited to the humanitarian mission in Oleshky.
