China Firmly Opposes US Sanctions on Chinese Companies

Dragon Media News Desk
China has strongly opposed the United States’ unilateral sanctions on Chinese companies, saying the measures violate international law and the basic norms governing international relations.
A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce made the remarks on Saturday in response to a media question about the US State Department’s November 5 sanctions on two Chinese companies. Reports said this was the first time Washington had sanctioned Chinese companies over alleged Cuba-related activities.
The spokesperson said the United States had recently intensified sanctions and pressure on China and introduced several discriminatory restrictions. The measures had seriously harmed the rights and interests of Chinese companies, departed from important agreements reached by the two countries’ leaders and undermined the stability of China-US economic and trade relations, the spokesperson said.
China urged the United States to correct its actions promptly and said it reserved the right to take necessary measures to protect its legitimate rights and interests.
