Genji Movement warns, demanding immediate dismissal of Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.

Kathmandu, April 19 — Genji Movement Nepal has formally demanded that the government immediately dismiss Home Minister Sudhan Gurung in order to allow an impartial investigation into serious allegations against him. In a press statement issued Monday by spokesperson Vijay Shah, the movement argued that continuing the investigation while Gurung remains in office would be a clear conflict of interest and could compromise the process.

The statement stressed that it is against basic ethics and legal principles for a minister to remain in office while being investigated, insisting that Gurung’s resignation is essential for fair justice. The movement urged Prime Minister Balen Shah’s government not to turn the appointment and removal of ministers into a crude and disrespectful game, emphasizing that cabinet composition is a matter of serious political and moral responsibility requiring maturity, foresight, and accountability.

“This is not an ordinary government; it represents the mandate earned through the blood sacrifice of 76 martyrs,” the statement declared. “No one has the right to play cheap politics over the people’s sacrifice.” The movement also warned that it would not tolerate any compromise or delay in matters of good governance, transparency, and accountability.

The controversy surrounding Gurung intensified after evidence surfaced showing his business partnership with controversial businessman Deepak Bhatt—currently in police custody in connection with a money‑laundering investigation—through Star Micro Insurance Company.
