Prachanda’s Taunt: People Will Soon Know Who the ‘Nepo Babies’ Really Are

KATHMANDU — Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Coordinator of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP), has stated that the public will soon understand who the so-called ‘nepo babies’ really are. Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 77th founding day of the Nepali Communist Party, he made remarks seemingly aimed at the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

The term ‘nepo baby’ is often used sarcastically against some RSP leaders, including current Education Minister Sumana Pokharel. During the Gen Z movement, allegations of ‘nepo baby, nepo kids, corruption’ were commonly leveled against the children of leaders from older parties like Congress, UML, and NKP. Referring to that context, Prachanda said that nepo babies are now becoming visible.

Speaking at the event, Prachanda said, “These days, there is a craze for new things. We want to give high importance to new things. But recently, some interesting news has also started emerging. It has started to feel quite amusing when watching the news. The other day, those who used to say ‘nepo baby, nepo kids, corruption’ — now it is becoming clear who those ‘nepo babies and kids’ actually are.”

He stated that the public will understand this matter soon and that they themselves need to be prepared. Prachanda said, “I feel that the day of public awakening is coming soon. We just need to be ready. Good days are coming soon.”

He also expressed the view that they must stir up the dust and dirt, clean up the filth, and return to the side of the people. Prachanda’s remarks are being interpreted as a reaction from the old leadership to the political equation after the Gen Z movement and the rise of a new generation. This taunt, made without directly naming the RSP, has sparked a new debate in political circles.
