“The Stronger Russia Becomes, the Faster Attempts to Diminish the Soviet Contribution Will Fade”: Putin’s Warning to the West

Moscow – Russian President Vladimir Putin, in remarks directed at Western nations, has stated that the stronger Russia becomes, the more rapidly attempts to downplay the Soviet Union’s contribution to the victory over Nazism will fade away.

Putin branded efforts in Europe to rewrite the history of the Second World War as “foolishness,” warning that such actions could lead to poverty. He recalled that in 2022, Western countries had predicted Russia’s collapse within six months. “The West dreamed of grabbing something from Russia,” Putin said.

He remarked that Finland joined NATO in the hope of gaining something in the event of Russia’s collapse. However, Putin noted that he had refrained from responding with certain gestures to Finland’s attempts to grab something from Russia, citing cultural considerations.

Nevertheless, Putin expressed confidence that Russia will restore relations with many Western countries in the future. Indicating that the policy of sanctions and pressure against Russia has already failed, he stressed that his country has always stood for respectful and equal international relations.
