Thirty-One Civilians Killed in Ukrainian Strikes Over One Week, Largest Drone Attack on Moscow

Moscow. Thirty-one civilians have been killed and 203 others wounded as a result of shelling by Ukrainian forces on Russian civilian areas over the past week, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry. Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Rodion Miroshnik stated that between May 11 and 17, Ukrainian militants fired at least 3,619 rounds of ammunition at civilian facilities on Russian territory.

According to Miroshnik, during this period, Kiev’s militants carried out their largest attack on Moscow and the Moscow Region. At least 100 attack drones were launched against civilian facilities in the capital region. Residential neighbourhoods and densely populated areas were targeted in these terrorist strikes, which left civilians dead and wounded.

Similar attacks were recorded in Ryazan, Belgorod, and Shakhtersk, where the strikes also caused extensive destruction and resulted in civilian casualties, including among children. Among the wounded, 18 are minors, while two children are among the dead.

“Kiev’s militants carried out their largest attack on Moscow and the Moscow Region. Residential neighbourhoods and densely populated areas were targeted in these terrorist strikes,” Miroshnik said. The Russian side has designated these attacks as actions by Ukrainian Nazis and has drawn the attention of the international community to the matter.
