Tibetan Delegation Arrives in Kathmandu from Lhasa

Kathmandu — A five-member Chinese delegation led by Chao Peng, Vice Chairman of the Tibet (Xizang) Autonomous Regional Government of China, arrived in Kathmandu on Monday.
The team led by Vice Chairman Chao landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 1 p.m. aboard Himalaya Airlines flight number H 9775 from Lhasa. In China, the official rank of a provincial government vice chairman is equivalent to that of a deputy minister.
The delegation includes members Pao Ting, Ta Chen, Ka Lie, Wu Kang and Sireng Yangjee. The official agenda and objectives of the Nepal visit have not yet been publicly disclosed.
High-level exchanges between Nepal and China’s Tibet Autonomous Region have been taking place regularly on matters concerning border management, trade, tourism and cultural exchange. In 2023, the then Chairman of the Tibet Autonomous Region, Yan Jinhai, had also visited Nepal. In this context, Vice Chairman Chao’s visit is being viewed as part of the continuing efforts to expand bilateral ties.
