PM Shah Holds Collective Dialogue with EU-Based Envoys

Kathmandu — Prime Minister Balendra Shah held a collective meeting with the non-resident ambassadors and heads of mission of the European Union member states based in Nepal on Tuesday.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the meeting took place at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers. A 22-member delegation led by EU Ambassador Veronique Lorenzo included ambassadors and deputy chiefs of mission from Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and other European nations, who were in Kathmandu for the EU’s annual meeting.
During the meeting, the Prime Minister briefed the delegation on Nepal’s current development priorities, good governance, and balanced foreign relations. Discussions focused on further strengthening bilateral ties between Nepal and EU member states and expanding cooperation across various dimensions, including trade, investment, climate change, and sustainable development, according to the Prime Minister’s press expert, Deepa Dahal.
Ambassador Lorenzo stated that the visit was an opportunity to congratulate the new government, reiterate EU support for Nepal’s development priorities, and explore new avenues of cooperation. “We are here to congratulate the new government, reaffirm our support for Nepal’s development priorities, and explore new paths of cooperation ranging from trade and investment to climate action and multilateral issues,” she said.
This follows a similar collective meeting the Prime Minister held with ambassadors from various countries on Chaitra 25, where diplomats had inquired about the new government’s course of action. The latest engagement is expected to further consolidate Nepal’s collective diplomatic dialogue approach and its multifaceted relationship with the European Union.
