Gen-Z Movement: Organisers Asked Sudhan Gurung to Leave, Yet He Defiantly Remained Active at the Protest Site, Facts Reveal

Kathmandu. Facts have come to light showing that during the Gen-Z movement, even when the organising group asked him to leave, Sudhan Gurung, Chairman of ‘Hami Nepal’ and former Home Minister, defied the request and remained active at the protest site. According to the investigation report of the National Human Rights Commission, at around 9 am on Bhadau 23, after the group of Gen-Z campaign leaders including Raksha Bam and Justin Ojha reached the Maitighar Mandala, Sudhan Gurung was seen having made preparations including tents, health volunteers, and three ambulances.
As mentioned in the report, during that time, Raksha Bam, Justin Ojha, and others argued with Sudhan Gurung and asked him to leave the protest. However, Gurung refused that request and continued to remain active at the protest site.
The report interprets the advance arrangement of ambulances, primary treatment, and health volunteers for a protest that was initially described as peaceful as a prior indication that the movement could turn violent. The statements of security officials mention that after the protesters broke through the police barricade and advanced towards New Baneshwar, the movement became provocative and violent, and infiltration by wrong elements occurred. The report concludes that even when such a situation arose, the organisers did not make effective efforts to prevent infiltration, and the security agencies also failed to carry out adequate analysis and preparation.
