Government Raises Civil Servants’ Salaries by 21 Percent, Effective from Shrawan

Kathmandu. The government has announced a significant increase in the salaries of civil servants starting from the upcoming fiscal year 2083/84. Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle, while presenting the budget for the upcoming fiscal year in the Federal Parliament on Thursday, informed that the salary of civil servants has been increased by 21 percent.
The salary increment, to be effective from Shrawan 1, comes after a gap of four years during which no salary increase had been made. The government has kept the dearness allowance unchanged. Finance Minister Wagle stated that even a 10 percent salary increase places special priority on an incentive-based budget.
Following the increase, the minimum salary of civil servants shall range from 40,000 rupees to over 100,000 rupees, Finance Minister Wagle has claimed. The government expects that this salary increment, coming after a long interval, shall boost the morale of civil servants and make service delivery more effective.
