Russian House in Kathmandu Screens Pushkin’s ‘The Tale of Tsar Saltan’ for Students

KATHMANDU – The Russian House in Kathmandu today hosted a screening of ‘The Tale of Tsar Saltan’, a film based on Pushkin’s fairy tale. Students from three schools participated in the event.

Students from Swornim Batika Secondary School, Alpine Valley School, and the general education school at the Embassy of Russia in Nepal attended the screening. Counselor-Minister of the Russian Embassy, Rinchen Rakhsaev, was also present at the event.
The film, directed by Sarik Andreasyan, served as an opportunity to discuss Russian literature, cinema, and culture. The students showed keen interest in the film, and the event was held in a warm and festive atmosphere.

After the screening, the students visited an exhibition titled ‘Beautiful Russia’, prepared on the occasion of Russia Day. Created in cooperation with the Russian Geographical Society, the exhibition introduced the children to the diversity and beauty of Russia. Special attention was drawn to the exhibition ‘Youth. Beauty. Loss. In Memory of Those Killed in Starobelsk’, dedicated to the tragedy that took place in Starobelsk on May 22, 2026. The exhibition preserves the memory of the children who lost their lives and serves as a reminder of the importance of protecting children from war.
Events like these organized by the Russian House continue to introduce students to Russian literature, contemporary cinema, and cultural initiatives.
