Middle East and Gulf Region Again at a ‘Critical Juncture,’ Says Wang Yi

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Monday that the situation in the Middle East and the Gulf region has once again reached a critical juncture, urging the parties concerned to return to dialogue and negotiations as soon as possible.

Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during talks in Beijing with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

According to Wang, the immediate priority is to de-escalate tensions and prevent the situation from sliding further toward confrontation.

He stressed that disputes in the Middle East and Gulf region should be addressed through political and diplomatic means rather than military escalation.

Wang said the parties concerned should prioritize regional peace and security and create conditions for the resumption of dialogue and negotiations.

China, he added, hopes that all sides will exercise restraint and work toward restoring stability in the region.

The talks also covered bilateral relations between China and Kuwait, with both sides discussing ways to strengthen political trust and expand practical cooperation.

Wang said China is willing to maintain coordination with Kuwait on regional issues and continue contributing to peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf.

Kuwait, for its part, expressed its willingness to strengthen communication and coordination with China on regional and international affairs.

China’s latest remarks come amid renewed concerns over instability in the Middle East, with Beijing reiterating its position that de-escalation, restraint and political settlement should take priority over confrontation.
