Public Holiday on Wednesday for Muslim Community Only

The government has decided to grant a public holiday on Wednesday exclusively for Nepali Muslims on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad.
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued a notice on Tuesday stating that the Muslim Commission had informed the government that Muhammad Jayanti falls on Wednesday, Bhadau 10, 2083 BS.
According to the ministry, a notice published in the Nepal Gazette on Falgun 18, 2082 BS provides for a public holiday for Nepali Muslims on the occasion of Muhammad Jayanti.
Following confirmation of this year’s date by the Muslim Commission, the Home Ministry announced that the holiday will apply only to Nepali Muslims.
The ministry clarified that Wednesday will not be a nationwide public holiday for all government offices and the general public.
The notice was issued by Home Ministry spokesperson and Joint Secretary Anand Kafle.
The ministry also extended its greetings and best wishes to the Muslim community on the occasion of Muhammad Jayanti.
