Prime Minister Shah to Answer Parliament Members’ Questions Today

Prime Minister Balendra Shah is scheduled to answer questions raised by parliament members during today’s meeting of the House of Representatives.
According to the Federal Parliament Secretariat, the House meeting will begin at 1:00 pm on Wednesday. Under Chapter 9 of the House of Representatives Rules, 2083 BS, Prime Minister Shah is expected to respond directly to questions submitted by members.
The prime ministerial question-and-answer session is regarded as an important parliamentary mechanism for ensuring government accountability on policies, decisions and performance. Parliament members are expected to raise questions on current national issues, government performance and matters of public concern.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Shah is also scheduled to present the seventh annual report of the Muslim Commission for fiscal year 2081/82 BS.
Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Biraj Bhakta Shrestha is scheduled to present the long-term electricity trade agreement between Nepal and India before the House. The agreement is considered significant in the context of expanding cross-border electricity trade and Nepal’s growing power exports.
Meetings of the Legislation Management Committee and the Public Policy and Delegated Legislation Committee are also scheduled for today.
The House meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday was postponed until Wednesday following the death of Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal’s mother-in-law. As a result, the prime minister’s scheduled question-and-answer session was also shifted to today.
