China Launches New Remote Sensing Satellite Group

China has successfully launched a new group of remote sensing satellites designed for electromagnetic environment detection and related technical tests. The Yaogan-40 04 satellite group was sent into space on Thursday from the Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center in north China’s Shanxi Province.

The satellites were launched aboard a modified Long March-6 carrier rocket at 4:46 p.m. Beijing Time and successfully entered their preset orbits.

The new satellite group will primarily be used for electromagnetic environment detection and related technical testing, further advancing China’s remote sensing and space-based observation capabilities.

The mission marked the 670th flight of China’s Long March carrier rocket series, the country’s principal launch vehicle family for deploying satellites and other spacecraft.
