Lavrov Meets Pacific Island Representatives on UNGA Sidelines

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met senior representatives of Pacific small island developing states in New York on September 24, on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly. Russia’s Foreign Ministry said it was the 13th meeting in this format.

According to the ministry, the participants exchanged views on international and regional challenges and discussed prospects for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including climate issues, fisheries, shipping and education.

The participants reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation across a range of fields. The ministry’s account did not announce any new agreement.
