Chinese and US First Ladies Visit National Museum of Asian Art

Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Melania Trump, wife of US President Donald Trump, visited the National Museum of Asian Art in Washington on Thursday, according to Xinhua. They toured several exhibition spaces, including the Peacock Room.

Peng welcomed the United States’ return of Chinese cultural artifacts in recent years. She expressed hope that the two countries would strengthen cooperation on cultural exchange and heritage protection while deepening friendship between their peoples.

After the tour, the two first ladies watched American teenagers perform Chinese songs and spoke with them. Peng encouraged the students to continue learning Chinese language and culture and to help build friendship between China and the United States, Xinhua reported.
