China Accounts for 59 Percent of Global Industrial Robot Installations

China remained the world’s largest market for industrial robots in 2025, accounting for 59 percent of new installations worldwide, according to the International Federation of Robotics’ World Robotics 2026 report.

The report said 354,000 industrial robots were installed in China last year, up 20 percent from 2024. The figure exceeded the previous annual record by nearly 60,000 units.

The electrical and electronics industry installed 96,400 robots, a 16 percent increase. Installations in the automotive industry rose 38 percent to a record 78,900, while the metal and machinery industry recorded a 44 percent rise to 78,700.

Chinese manufacturers supplied 195,000 of the robots installed in the country, giving them a 55 percent share of the domestic market. The federation said Chinese brands have accounted for more than half of installations in China since 2024.

The federation expects China’s industrial robot market to grow by an average of 5 to 10 percent a year through 2029. It cited demographic change and labour shortages as factors likely to sustain demand for automation.
