China and Serbia Discuss Expanding Cooperation in New York

Chinese Vice President Han Zheng met Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in New York on Thursday. The two discussed expanding cooperation in various fields on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly, according to Chinese news agency Xinhua.

Han conveyed greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and said China wanted to carry forward its longstanding friendship with Serbia. He said the two countries had maintained close ties despite a complex international environment and credited Vučić with helping advance bilateral relations and practical cooperation.

Vučić thanked China for its support for Serbia’s development. He said Serbia wanted to deepen cooperation across various fields in ways that would benefit the people of both countries.

Xinhua’s account of the meeting did not report any new agreement, project or timetable.
