US Chargé d’Affaires Megan Bouldin met Chief of the Army Staff General Ashok Raj Sigdel to discuss the US–Nepal partnership and American assistance for disaster preparedness and response.
According to the US Embassy, Bouldin offered condolences to those who lost their lives in the August floods and expressed sympathy to the families of missing Nepali Army personnel. She also said US support for the recovery of flood-affected communities was continuing.

During the meeting, Bouldin said the United States would provide more than $150 million worth of American-made helicopters, drones and riverboats to strengthen Nepal’s disaster-response capacity. Deliveries are due to begin next year, the embassy said.
The equipment will supplement the M28 Skytruck aircraft worth $38 million that the United States donated last autumn. The aircraft have supported relief operations.
The embassy said US technology, equipment and expertise would help Nepal strengthen search and rescue, medical evacuation and emergency response capabilities, helping save lives and support communities during disasters.
