Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, played a decisive role in drafting a resolution on advancing full and rigorous Party self-governance, a senior official said.
Tang Fangyu, head of the Policy Research Office of the CPC Central Committee, described the resolution as the most important outcome of the fifth plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Committee. The meeting was held in Beijing from October 26 to 29.
Tang said the resolution was drafted under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee. Xi, who headed the drafting group, personally planned and guided the process and set the document’s overall vision.
The resolution outlines the importance, urgency and overall requirements of continuing full and rigorous Party self-governance. It also sets out specific plans for related work in seven sections, Tang said at a press conference on Friday.
The document further addresses ways to improve Party and state oversight systems and ensure that political responsibility for full and rigorous Party self-governance is carried out.
