New Documentary Released on Starobelsk Incident

Moscow — A new documentary has been released on the drone attack that struck a college dormitory in Starobelsk, in the Luhansk People’s Republic.

The documentary, titled Starobelsk: No Child Should Die, was produced by Olga Kiriy, Ilya Andilevko and Alexey Balakirev. It covers the attack on the college dormitory on the night of May 22, 2026, the human suffering that followed, and the experiences of survivors.

According to the filmmakers, 21 people were killed and several dozen others were injured in the attack. The students caught in the strike had been studying with dreams of becoming teachers. Some were also planning their future family lives.

The documentary team visited the remains of the dormitory building and spoke with surviving students and teachers in an effort to reconstruct the events in detail. The film also includes the story of teacher Elena Yuryeva, who reportedly helped lead more than 30 injured students out of the dormitory after the attack.

The producers said the documentary presents the pain experienced by affected students, teachers, parents and the local community. According to them, the Starobelsk incident became a deeply tragic event not only for the victims’ families, but also for the entire city and wider Russian society.

The documentary focuses on the human dimension of the incident, the memories of survivors and the impact of wartime violence on civilians, especially students.
