China, Belarus Emphasize Alignment of Development Strategies

Minsk — Chinese Vice President Han Zheng has said China is ready to work with Belarus to further align their development strategies and explore cooperation potential in new areas.
During his visit to Belarus from Saturday to Monday at the invitation of the Belarusian government, Han held separate meetings in Minsk with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Prime Minister Alexander Turchin and First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov.
In his meeting with President Lukashenko, Han conveyed warm greetings from Chinese President Xi Jinping and said that under the strategic guidance of Xi and Lukashenko, China-Belarus relations have developed rapidly and reached the high level of an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership.
Han said China is willing to work with Belarus in line with the direction set by head-of-state diplomacy, carry forward the tradition of mutual support, open new space for win-win development, strengthen the social foundation of friendship between the two countries, and promote the continuous deepening of China-Belarus relations and cooperation.
Lukashenko asked Han to convey his cordial greetings to President Xi, saying Belarus is China’s all-weather comprehensive strategic partner and a reliable friend. He said bilateral relations have flourished over the more than 30 years since the establishment of diplomatic ties, and that Belarus looks forward to closer high-level exchanges, stronger political trust, deeper practical cooperation and greater people-to-people friendship with China.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Turchin, Han said China-Belarus friendship is long-standing and enduring. He said China is committed to developing relations and deepening cooperation with Belarus, and will continue to support Belarus in safeguarding its sovereignty, security and development interests.
Han said the two countries should take high-quality Belt and Road cooperation as a guide and continue creating new highlights in cooperation. He added that China and Belarus can work together to safeguard the common interests of the Global South and inject stability into an uncertain world.
Turchin said China is a key strategic partner of Belarus and that relations between the two countries serve as a model of unity and cooperation among developing countries. He praised China’s constructive role in safeguarding international fairness and justice, and said Belarus firmly supports China in protecting its core interests.
In his meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister Snopkov, Han said China and Belarus are good friends with mutual trust and sincere partners in cooperation. He noted that the economies of the two countries are highly complementary and that there is broad space for cooperation.
Han said 2026 marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan, while Belarus is also advancing toward its 2026-2030 economic and social development goals. He said China is ready to strengthen the alignment of development strategies with Belarus, create new space for win-win development at a higher level with greater resilience and sustainability, and bring more benefits to the peoples of both countries.
Snopkov said China and Belarus share similar development concepts and strategic goals. He expressed confidence that Chinese modernization would significantly contribute to global peace, development and shared prosperity.
According to Snopkov, Belarus is ready to work with China to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, make full use of existing bilateral cooperation mechanisms, enhance people-to-people exchanges, expand practical cooperation in industrial fields, advance major projects such as the China-Belarus Industrial Park, and attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in Belarus.
During the visit, Han and Snopkov attended the opening ceremony of a China-Belarus industrial and investment cooperation forum and the Belarus special event titled “Big Market for All: Export to China.”
Speaking at the event, Han said China is ready to continue working with Belarus on the basis of sincerity and trust, strengthen the alignment of development strategies, explore potential for trade growth, and expand industrial and investment cooperation.
He said China will remain committed to high-quality development and high-level opening up, creating a broader market and more development opportunities for countries around the world, including Belarus.
Nearly 1,000 representatives from the governments and business sectors of the two countries attended the events. Participants held business negotiations and signed multiple letters of intent for cooperation.
During his visit, Vice President Han also laid a wreath at the Victory Monument and visited a Belarusian agricultural exhibition.
