Russia and Bangladesh Foreign Ministers Hold Talks in Moscow

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, who is on an official visit to Russia, held talks in Moscow on June 8.
At the beginning of the meeting, Lavrov welcomed his Bangladeshi counterpart and expressed Russia’s interest in further strengthening the traditionally friendly relations between the two countries.
The two foreign ministers exchanged views in detail on a wide range of bilateral and international issues. They expressed mutual interest in maintaining regular political dialogue and expanding cooperation in practical areas.
Special attention was paid to cooperation at the United Nations. This issue was particularly significant in light of Bangladeshi Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman’s election as President of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.
According to the Russian side, the talks were held in an atmosphere of trust and mutual understanding, reflecting the traditionally friendly nature of Russia–Bangladesh relations.
Following the meeting, Lavrov and Rahman also held a joint press conference. During the event, Lavrov spoke about Russia–Bangladesh relations, bilateral cooperation, the UN agenda, and the international situation, and answered questions from the media.
Overall, the Moscow talks highlighted the shared willingness of Russia and Bangladesh to continue political dialogue, strengthen cooperation on multilateral platforms, and expand partnership in practical areas.
