China and Kuwait Hold Cultural Event Ahead of International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations

China and Kuwait jointly held a cultural event in Kuwait on Tuesday ahead of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. The event aimed to promote mutual learning, people-to-people exchanges, and intercultural understanding.
The program, themed “Harmony of Strings and Ink: Conversation & Connection,” was held at the China Cultural Center in Kuwait. More than 100 guests attended the event, which was organized ahead of the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations, observed on June 10.
Liu Xiang, Deputy Chief of Mission and Counsellor of the Chinese Embassy in Kuwait, said the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations carries special significance at a time when the world is facing growing uncertainty and complex challenges.
He noted that the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the China-proposed resolution establishing the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations reflects China’s commitment to promoting exchanges, mutual learning, and respect among different civilizations.
Al-Anoud Ibrahim Al-Sabah, Acting Assistant Secretary General of Dar Al-Athar Al-Islamiyyah and Acting Director General of the Kuwait National Library, emphasized that dialogue among civilizations plays an important role in strengthening mutual understanding.
She said Kuwait and China have developed strong cultural and humanitarian ties through decades of cooperation and mutual respect, despite differences in language, geography, and traditions.
Hussain Mahmood Faras, Vice President of the Old Kuwaiti Crafts Society, stressed the importance of preserving cultural heritage and expanding cultural exchanges. He said such initiatives help strengthen communication, friendship, and mutual respect among peoples.
The event also featured various cultural performances and interactive activities showcasing the rich cultural traditions of both China and Kuwait.
