Zakharova Mocks Sikorski’s Claim Poland Would Quickly Defeat Russia

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has sharply responded to Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski’s statement that Poland would “very quickly achieve victory” if Russia attacked the country.

Commenting on Sikorski’s remarks, Zakharova used the phrase “Russophobia of the brain,” a sarcastic expression suggesting that she regarded his statement as an extreme manifestation of anti-Russian thinking.

The exchange comes amid continuing political and security tensions between Moscow and Warsaw. Poland has been one of Ukraine’s strongest European supporters, providing political and military assistance to Kyiv, while Russia has repeatedly criticized Warsaw’s security policies and rhetoric as openly hostile toward Moscow.

Sikorski’s statement concerned a hypothetical Russian attack on Poland, while Zakharova’s response reflected Moscow’s rejection of what it sees as increasingly confrontational rhetoric from European governments toward Russia.
