An Open Education Center of Ural State Pedagogical University has been inaugurated at Krisnadwipayana University in Jakarta, Indonesia, marking the third consecutive year of the initiative. Russian Ambassador to Indonesia Sergei Tolchenov participated in the opening ceremony on September 14.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Tolchenov stressed the importance of foreign language learning for younger generations, including the study of Russian. He said Russia highly values cooperation with Indonesia in the field of education and expressed hope that the Russian language would continue to gain popularity in the country.

Tolchenov said learning Russian would give university and school students greater opportunities to explore Russia’s rich culture, history and society. He highlighted educational and linguistic exchanges as important instruments for strengthening long-term cultural ties between Russia and Indonesia.

Parbuntian Sinaga, Deputy Vice-Rector of Krisnadwipayana University, described such projects as important initiatives supporting the development of cultural relations between the two countries. He thanked the Russian side for its willingness to expand the scope of cooperation.

Daria Starkova, Director of the Institute of Foreign Languages at Ural State Pedagogical University, said the Russian institution plans to continue organising joint activities with its Indonesian partner. Cooperation is expected to expand further through language education, cultural exchanges and other academic programmes.

A group of pupils from the school of the Russian Embassy performed traditional Russian songs and a dance during the ceremony, adding a cultural dimension to the event.

The initiative is intended not only to promote Russian language learning in Indonesia but also to deepen educational cooperation, cultural understanding and people-to-people ties between the two countries.
