The 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, arrived in Bhutan on October 30 to attend Project 108, a religious and spiritual gathering in Gelephu Mindfulness City.
The 108 Jangchub Chortens, each 15 metres tall, are scheduled to be raised together on November 1 along the banks of the Mau Chhu River, organisers say.

The Karmapa is expected to take part in prayers, religious practices and consecration-related events in Gelephu from November 1 to 4. Thousands of devotees and Buddhist followers are expected to attend.
Project 108 is being organised as a major religious and national initiative in Bhutan. The simultaneous raising of all 108 chortens in a single day is regarded as a significant spiritual occasion.
