Storm Disrupts Power Supply, Repair Work Intensified

Kathmandu. Repair and maintenance work has been intensified after falling trees caused temporary disruptions to electricity supply in various parts of the country due to adverse weather conditions.
According to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), technical teams have been continuously deployed in the affected areas and are carrying out repair and restoration work at a rapid pace. Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Biraj Bhakta Shrestha has directed NEA officials to expedite the repair work immediately.
As per the details provided by the Authority, a tree fell between Tower Nos. 122 and 123 of the Piluwa–Pathalaiya–Chandranigahapur section, affecting the transmission line. The tree removal work has been completed and circuit charging is currently underway. Similarly, three trees have been removed from Tower Nos. 136–137 of the same section, and the necessary technical work for restoring the line is ongoing.
In the Amlekhganj–Kamane section, a tree falling between Tower Nos. 46 and 47 has caused damage to the conductor of the transmission line. A technical team has already reached the incident site and ‘stringing’ work has commenced.
Sunday afternoon’s storm caused power supply problems in various parts of the country. The Authority has stated that efforts are underway to restore smooth electricity supply by Monday morning.
